Volunteer


Current Volunteer Positions

The Squamish Days Loggers Sports Organizing Committee is looking to fill the following volunteer positions immediately.

Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for:
• Recruiting volunteers for various weekend events
• Assisting with organization of volunteer appreciation party
• Creation and updating of volunteer handouts and information
• Assist with collecting prize donations for volunteer appreciation party

Time Commitment:
• Prior to Event: approximately 25 hours (includes monthly committee meetings)
• Day of the Event: approximately 5 hours– set up, clean up at volunteer party


Beer Garden Coordinator

The Beer Garden Coordinator is responsible for:
• Arrange for required permits
• Coordinate beer supply, including purchase, pick-up, delivery
• Coordinate and schedule volunteers for bar service, ticket sellers and bar backup
• Coordinate set up of beer garden including tables, tents, chairs, ice, and all required bar items
• Coordinate clean up of beer garden after the event

Time Commitment:
• Prior to Event: approximately 45 hours (includes monthly committee meetings)
• Day of the Event: 8-10 hours, on both Saturday & Sunday


Sponsorship Sales & VIP Lounge Host

The Sponsorship Sales & VIP Lounge Host is responsible for:
Sponsorship Sales
• Contacting new/potential sponsors and attempt to sell Sponsorship for this year’s festival (main part of job)
• Working with Sponsorship Coordinator to collect monies from sponsors who have not yet paid
• Assisting Sponsorship Coordinator with delivery of sponsorship benefit packages from July 20 – 29 approximately (IE: T-shirts, Hats & Show Tickets)
• This position does not require that you be at every meeting as long as any pertinent information is relayed to the Sponsorship Coordinator

VIP Lounge Host

• Attending the VIP Tent on Saturday & Sunday of the festival
• Meeting & greeting sponsors
• Providing each sponsor and their guests wristbands so they can come & go from the VIP tent
• Providing each sponsor with a set amount of drink tickets and directing them to the food which is usually provided by Pepe & Gringos
• Assisting bartender (if necessary)
• Assisting with general cleanup of the sponsorship tent
• Mingling with sponsors

Time Commitment:

• Sponsorship Sales: 25 hours (not including monthly committee meetings, which are optional for this position)
• Day of the Event: approximately 5 hours, on both Saturday and Sunday


Marketing & PR Assistant

The Marketing & PR Assistant is responsible for:
• assisting with website and social media updates
• liaising with Spar Tree producer to ensure accurate & exciting souvenir program is created
• creating press releases and contacting various media outlets locally and in the lower mainland
• assisting with the coordination of contests, etc. to further promote the festival
• being the key contact for outside media wishing to obtain press passes and access to festival events
• general marketing tasks as required

Time Commitment:

• Prior to Event: approximately 25 hours (not including monthly committee meetings, optional for this position)
• Day of the Event: 2-4 hours, on both Saturday & Sunday (optional)


Children’s Sports Coordinator

The Children’s Sports Coordinator is responsible for:

• Getting approval from the District to use Stan Clarke Park for the event
• Meeting with the District Liaison for Stan Clarke Park
• Arranging entertainment, games, activities, and decorated bike/stroller contest
• Coordinating 6‐8 volunteers to assist with running of event
• Contacting Squamish Fire Department, Squamish RCMP Auxiliary to have them attend the event
• Contacting sponsors to ensure they will also support the event with volunteers and/or product
• Arranging with the Souvenir Coordinator t‐shirts needed for event volunteers
• Purchasing supplies, transporting supplies from logger’s sports grounds to Stan Clarke Park
• Organizing the set‐up & tear‐down of the event
• Generally keeping the volunteers happy, keeping the event flowing, and enjoying the smiles on the faces of all kids!

Time Commitment:

• Prior to Event: approximately 25‐30 hours (includes monthly committee meetings)
• Day of the Event: approximately 6 hours


The Squamish Days Committee is looking for people interested in volunteering at specific weekend events. These positions require less time commitment (4-6 hours).


Bed Race Volunteers - Friday, August 3rd
Kid's Sports Volunteers
- Saturday, August 4th
Loggers Sports Timers - Saturday, August 4th and Sunday, August 5th
Souvenir Sales - various shifts July 28th - August 5th
